dida starts project on crop classification together with GFZ Potsdam

Together with GFZ Potsdam, the national research centre for geosciences, dida has been awarded a 2-year contract by the Federal Ministry of Economics.
The aim of the project is the early classification of crop types on agricultural parcels based on satellite data from the European
Satellite system Sentinel using Machine Learning algorithms.

The earliest possible classification of the crop type and its availability in an online service will enable a number of additional applications, for example
price determination in commodity futures exchanges or the prediction of harvest amounts by crop types.
