dida visits Institute for Plastics Processing in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen
We recently visited the Institute for Plastics Processing in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University.
Together with our partners, we discussed our joint research project “KIOptipack”, which aims at developing AI-supported tools to optimize product design and production methods for plastic packaging, concerning sustainability.
During our visit, we took a tour of the laboratories. This gave us first-hand experience and a better understanding of the complex equipment and data sets that are essential to our work.
We talked about the different data augmentation techniques that are specifically designed for various measurement modalities. Unlike the intuitive application of augmentation methodologies in visual datasets, such as images, where techniques like rotations and zooms are common, we conducted a thorough analysis to develop customized strategies for optimal augmentation in our specific research contexts.
We want to express our gratitude to the team at IKV for their valuable contributions to our discourse. We're happy to incorporate these insights into our ongoing research efforts and can't wait to share the results!
