dida Joins the Second Funding Phase of BTU’s Energy Innovation Center

News

The Energy Innovation Center (EIZ) at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has officially launched its second funding phase, and dida is on board as a consortium partner.

AI for turbulent wind fields

In the EIZ’s Scientific Computing (SC) Lab, we are working with BTU’s Department of Stochastics and Applications on an exciting problem: AI-supported modeling of turbulent wind fields.

Specifically, we are developing generative, physics-informed models that are trained on real measurement data and produce synthetic wind field data. These models form the basis for real-time physics-informed change point analysis (PI-CPA). PI-CPA detects sudden changes in the turbulence characteristics of wind fields and feeds them into load change forecasts for wind turbines.

Where basic research meets the energy transition

For us, the SC Lab is an environment where basic mathematical research on stochastic PDEs and physics-informed AI connects directly with industrially relevant questions of the energy transition.

We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Carsten Hartmann and Dr. Marten Klein from BTU for the collaboration so far. We are very much looking forward to the next two years of intensive research.
