Deep learning techniques developed in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) allow for new ways of parsing raw log data into structured templates. They outperform current log parsing methods, generalize well over different log types, and don't rely on log specific heuristics or manually specified rules.
The manual analysis of the large amount of data produced by increasingly complex software systems is unfeasible. Machine Learning models can be used to detect and classify unexpected log sequences or log events and thus detect anomalous behavior. At the same time, they are robust to changing or additional log messages introduced by, for example, new software versions.
